Response to End Sexualized Violence

The Building a Coordinated National Response to End Sexualized Violence project aims to improve Canada’s capacity to respond to the urgent and distinct needs of survivors of sexual violence; to ensure a consistent, intersectional consideration and response to sexual violence across jurisdictions, sectors, and institutions; and to collect data about the sexual violence sector and survivors, including the impact of COVID-19.

What is the state of sexual violence services in Canada?


Through a number of research initiatives, this project with start to fill a gap in the availability of data in order to better tell the story of the state of sexual violence services in Canada at the national level, and provide the information needed to compare services across provinces and territories as a means of identifying gaps and inconsistencies.

SUPPORTING SURVIVORS

How can we strengthen access to sexual violence support services in Canada?

Ensuring that those who experience sexual violence know where to access support is an essential step in ensuring accessible supports for survivors. Over the course of this project, we will continue to develop a publicly accessible inventory of sexual violence support services within each province and territory.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

How can we work together to strengthen national action on sexual violence?

In carrying out the work of this project, EVA Canada is continuing to work toward convening a working group of advocates; service providers; leaders and representatives from various institutions and systems to guide the development of a sexual violence response framework, and to provide ongoing input and expertise on sexualized violence in broader gender-based violence issues.
