EVA BC: Community Coordination for Women’s Safety
The Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) developed a program known as Community Coordination for Women’s Safety (CCWS). The aim of CCWS is to assist BC communities to develop new models or improve upon existing models of cross-sectoral coordinated response to violence against women. Coordination brings together various sectors that respond to violence against women — including community based victim assistance, stopping the violence counselling and outreach, multicultural outreach programs, sexual assault/women assault centres, police, child protection, corrections, transition houses, hospitals, Indigenous services, settlement programs and others — to ensure that all services work together as effectively as possible with the common goal of keeping women safe. Please note: Some documents on this site were originally published in the Coordinated Community Response to Violence Against Women Resource Kit, compiled by the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General in December 2000. When using these documents, please be sure to credit the appropriate source(s).
